The OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response standard, 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(8), requires workers who completed initial HAZWOPER training to take 8 hours of refresher training every year. This course provides the online knowledge portion of that refresher.

Your employer must still provide site-specific updates, hands-on review, a skill assessment, the respirator medical evaluation and fit testing, and decides whether your refresher is complete.

It has 10 modules: the annual refresher and the rules behind it; recognizing hazards and reading warnings; site plans, site characterization and site control; air monitoring and instruments; levels of protection and the limits of PPE; respiratory protection; decontamination and medical surveillance; drums, containers, spills and confined spaces; emergency response; and lessons from recent incidents and what has changed. There are 19 worked "Try it" exercises, 10 real-world scenarios, six videos and a 40-question final exam (pass mark 80%, unlimited free retakes, highest score counts).
The course is 100% online and self-paced, and works on desktop, tablet or phone. When you pass you can download a certificate of completion. The course is in English only.
