Online instruction portion of HAZWOPER 24-hour training, aligned with 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3). For occasional site workers and certain regularly-on-site workers whose employer determines the 24-hour level applies. Hands-on training and the supervised field experience come from your employer.

The OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response standard, 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3), sets a 24-hour level of initial training for certain workers. It applies to workers on site only occasionally for a specific limited task, such as ground water monitoring or land surveying, who are unlikely to be exposed over permissible limits, and to some workers regularly on site in areas that have been monitored and fully characterized as below permissible exposure limits with no health hazard or emergency expected. General site workers who may be exposed to hazardous substances need the 40-hour level instead. Your employer decides which level applies to your job.
Please read this before you buy: this is the online instruction portion only. OSHA's letters say online training alone does not meet the requirement without hands-on practice and access to a qualified trainer. Your employer must provide hands-on practice with protective equipment, the respirator medical evaluation and fit test, site-specific training, and at least one day of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor. The instructor and supervisor certify the worker, not this course. Completing the course alone does not make anyone ready or permitted to work on a site.
The course is built for occasional site workers such as surveyors and monitoring technicians, and for employers who need the knowledge part of a 24-hour HAZWOPER program.
Topics follow the HAZWOPER training topics in 1910.120(e) and Appendix E: the standard, hazard recognition, toxicology basics, finding hazard information, site characterization, work zones and site control, air monitoring, medical surveillance, protective equipment and respirators, decontamination, and emergency procedures. Each module has a Knowledge Check, and the course ends with a final exam (pass mark 80%, unlimited retakes). Workers at this level need an 8-hour refresher every year. The course is in English only. Employers can buy team accounts from 2 seats.
