OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(l) says powered industrial truck operators must be trained and evaluated before they operate. The training has three parts: formal instruction (such as online lessons), practical hands-on training, and an evaluation of the operator's performance in the workplace. Powered pallet trucks are powered industrial trucks, so they are covered. This course delivers the formal instruction part.

The course is built for new and experienced operators of electric walkie, walkie/rider and end-rider pallet trucks in warehouses, distribution centers, retail back rooms, manufacturing and shipping and receiving, and for supervisors who run pallet truck programs.
It has 7 modules: pallet trucks and the OSHA training rule; controls, data plates and capacity; pre-use inspection and battery charging; traveling safely around pedestrians, crush hazards and riders; handling loads, ramps and grades; docks, trailers, elevators, parking and defects; and manual pallet jacks and what your hands-on evaluation will cover. Each module ends with a short practice Knowledge Check.
The course is 100% online and self-paced and works on desktop, tablet or phone. You can stop and continue anytime, and your progress saves automatically. It ends with a 25-question final exam (pass mark 80%, unlimited free retakes, highest score counts). When you pass you can download a certificate of completion. The course is in English only.
