OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(l) says powered industrial truck operators must be trained and evaluated before they operate. The training has three parts: formal instruction, practical training, and an evaluation of the operator in the workplace. This online course covers the formal instruction part for narrow aisle Class II trucks.
Please read this before you buy: this is online theory. It does not certify or authorize anyone to operate a truck. Your employer must provide hands-on practice, a workplace evaluation and written certification.
The course is built for operators of order pickers and stand-up reach trucks in warehouses and distribution centers, and supervisors of those programs. It does not cover other Class II types such as very narrow aisle turret trucks or swing-mast trucks, and it does not cover lithium battery handling.
It has 7 modules: Class II trucks and the OSHA training rule; know your truck (parts, controls, data plate); capacity, stability and handling loads at height; order picker fall protection; pre-use inspection and battery safety; traveling, rack aisles and pedestrians; and docks, special locations and your employer's part. The fall protection module explains what OSHA 1910.140 requires and what employers are expected to provide on order picker platforms.
The course is 100% online and self-paced and works on desktop, tablet or phone. You can stop and continue anytime, and your progress saves automatically. It ends with a 25-question final exam (pass mark 80%, unlimited free retakes, highest score counts). When you pass you can download a certificate of completion. The course is in English only. Employers can buy team accounts from 2 seats and track completions in one place.
